QLD COVID Update | Restrictions lift for fully vaccinated

It’s been announced this week that Queensland will impose COVID-19 restrictions on unvaccinated people from December, while those who are fully vaccinated will enjoy new freedoms on the road back to normal.

With QLD’s double dose vaccination rate expected to reach 80% on 17 December, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed the limits that will be put on Queenslanders who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 by mid-next month.

An easing of restrictions will apply for those who are fully vaccinated with the detail of rules for businesses provided.

Key points include:

• Only fully vaccinated people will be able to visit vulnerable settings, including hospitals, aged care facilities, prisons and disability services, except in end-of-life or emergency situations.
• The hospitality industry, including pubs, clubs, nightclubs, hotels, taverns, restaurants, cafes, bars and music venues will be free from all restrictions provided all staff and patrons are fully vaccinated.
• Concerts, theatres and cinemas will also come under these new rules. Private hire of venues will however incur restrictions should unvaccinated people be in attendance.
• Outdoor entertainment activities like sports stadiums, festivals and theme parks, will similarly only allow vaccinated staff and patrons to enter.

Essential retail services and public transport will be accessible, regardless of vaccination status.
